Zayed International Airport - Terminal A

One of the largest airport terminals in the world spanning a colossal 742,000 square metres, Terminal A at Zayed International Airport is a world-class paradigm of cutting-edge facilities, paving the way for a seamless travel experience like no other. For a space that processes an astounding 11,000 passengers per hour, it was important for SANIPEX GROUP to supply energy-conscious and durable solutions that stand the test of time. Supplied are a total of 900 standard and accessible washrooms for the public areas, main terminal, lounges, and all 81 gates.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Terminal A’s design sensibilities. From using recycled steel to certified timber, the terminal features water-efficient fixtures, surpassing Estidama benchmarks by 45%. Thanks to our comprehensive supply, water-saving measures are met through the use of flow reducers and aerators as well as carefully chosen concealed cisterns.

Collaborating with our partner brand Dolphin a total of 35 single, double and triple washroom cabinets in various sizes were custom-made to cleverly conceal energy-efficient HEPA filter hand dryers. Paired with wall-mounted touchless taps in a brushed stainless-steel finish to match dryers, the public washrooms now boast a streamlined and cohesive look. Incredibly, over 1000 of these taps can be found throughout the terminal, including accessible areas, thanks to their user-friendly technology.

Another requirement was for a bespoke urinal flush not readily available in the market at the time. Thanks to our close relationship with our partner brands this was smooth sailing for the specification team, who used Dolphin’s low-maintenance touchless manual override flush kits. The infrared sensor and direct flush ensure maximum hygiene, an important aspect of high-traffic areas.

The extensive supply also includes over 1,300 of BAGNODESIGN’s wall-mounted and undercounter basins and approximately 1,000 WCs in classic white ceramic. Additionally, there are more than 800 infrared touchless flush plates, aligning with the comforting theme of a hygienic washroom experience.

Setting the standard for comfortable travel during transit, the first and business-class Etihad lounge and accessible washrooms are equipped with BAGNODESIGN and Bossini shower solutions to invigorate the senses before catching a connection.
