Inquire for Project/OEMFrequently Asked Questions
1. How do the different PBV4 valve configurations operate?
All PBV4 models use a lift-and-turn main control. Lift the handle to turn the water on and adjust the flow, then rotate it to control the temperature.
- 1-outlet model: Operates one shower outlet without a diverter.
- 2-outlet rotary-diverter model: Rotate the diverter handle to select either outlet.
- 2-outlet push-diverter model: Press the diverter to switch between the two outlets. It automatically resets when the water is turned off.
- 3-outlet rotary-diverter model: Rotate the diverter handle to select one of three outlets.
2. Can the rough-in valve be installed before the trim finish is selected?
Yes. The PBV4 rough-in valve has no decorative finish. Once the required number of outlets and diverter type have been confirmed, the valve can be installed during the rough-in stage. The trim design and finish can be selected later from compatible PBV4 options.
3. What if the rough-in valve is installed too deep?
Extension kits are available for installations that exceed the recommended rough-in depth. Please provide the model number and actual installation depth to our sales team so we can confirm the correct extension kit.
4. What are the flow rates of the 1-, 2- and 3-outlet PBV4 valves?
Approximate flow rates tested at 60 PSI are:
- 1-outlet valve: 5.3 GPM
- 2-outlet valve: 4.6 GPM per outlet
- 3-outlet valve: 4.8 GPM per outlet
Each outlet is tested individually. Actual flow may vary depending on supply pressure, piping layout and connected shower components.
5. What are the inlet and outlet connection sizes?
PBV4 valves use standard 1/2" NPT connections for compatibility with North American plumbing systems. Always verify the piping layout and outlet configuration before installation.
6. Are PBV4 valves and compatible shower systems cUPC certified?
Yes. Aquavit’s certification coverage includes PBV4 rough-in valves, multiple trim and handle designs, and a wide range of compatible shower components.
Aquavit uses a structured model-number system that allows customers to combine certified valves, trims and shower components according to their project requirements. This makes it possible to create customized shower configurations covered by the applicable cUPC listing.
Certification applies to listed models and approved combinations. Please confirm the final model configuration with Aquavit before ordering. For details, refer to the IAPMO cUPC listing, File No. 14173, on our Certifications page.
7. Can Aquavit provide a working display solution for showrooms?
Yes. We can provide a simplified operational display solution for showrooms and dealer displays. It does not require wall cutting or installation of a complete shower system, while still allowing customers to operate the controls and understand the valve functions. Contact our sales team for display options.
8. Can the valve and trim be ordered separately?
Yes. The PBV4 rough-in valve, compatible trim and shower components can be ordered separately or supplied as a complete shower system. This supports phased project purchasing, replacement requirements and customized system configurations.
