Finish-Specific Care Guidelines

To keep your specific fixture looking pristine, locate your finish below and follow the recommended DOs and DON'Ts.

Matte Black Finish

DO: Clean regularly using mild soap and warm water. Rinse with clear water and dry immediately with a soft microfiber cloth to prevent mineral deposits.

DO NOT: Never use wax products. Wax will alter the matte texture into an uneven, semi-glossy appearance and degrade the finish over time. Do not use scouring pads or harsh chemicals.

Polished Chrome Finish

DO: Clean with a pH-balanced liquid dish soap and water. Because chrome shows water spots easily, dry the fixture with a microfiber cloth after each use to prevent hard water scale buildup.

DO NOT: Avoid all abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads, as these will permanently scratch the polished plating. Do not use automotive wax.

Brushed Nickel Finish

DO: Wipe down regularly with mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly with a microfiber cloth. Drying is especially important in hard water areas to avoid calcium buildup in the brushed texture.

DO NOT: Never use harsh acidic cleaners, metal brushes, or scouring pads, which will damage the brushed lines and protective coating.

Oil-Rubbed Bronze (ORB) Finish

DO: Clean gently using only mild soap and water. Rinse with clear water and dry with a microfiber cloth.

DO NOT: Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can strip the dark patina. Avoid wax products, which will artificially gloss over the intended finish.

PVD Finishes (Brushed/Polished Gold & Rose Gold)

DO: Use a mild soap solution and warm water. PVD is highly durable but prone to showing fingerprints and water spots, so rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft microfiber cloth to maintain its brilliant shine.

DO NOT: Do not use metal polishing compounds, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or scrubbing pads. These are unnecessary and can compromise the advanced PVD coating.

Internal Component Maintenance (Aerators & Cartridges)

Maintaining the internal components of your Aquavit fixtures ensures consistent water pressure and prevents leaks.

Aerators & Pop-Up Drains

l Weekly Drain Cleaning: Remove and rinse the Quick-Clean™ waste pop-up basket weekly to prevent clogs and slow drainage.

l Unclogging Aerators: Mineral buildup can restrict water flow. Unscrew the aerator periodically. Rinse the debris screen under cold water using a soft toothbrush.

l Deep Cleaning: For stubborn calcium deposits, soak the aerator components in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water for 15-30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly before reinstalling. Do not over-tighten during reassembly.

Valve Cartridges

l System Flushing: During initial installation, or after major plumbing work in the building, flush the system without the aerator attached to clear any pipe debris that could damage the ceramic cartridge discs.

l Inspection: If you notice a stiff handle or a slight drip, the internal cartridge may have accumulated debris or wear. Avoid unnecessary disassembly; contact our support team for a replacement cartridge if needed.
